This week I’m sharing an animation of a talk from a social philosopher called Roman Krznaric which I found interesting and you might too. It discusses the concept of empathy, but from a different perspective than I’ve heard before.

Empathy is something I’ve had to actively work on developing over the years. For a really long time I put empathy in the “soft and fluffy” basket of traits maintained by the bleeding hearts club. It took me a while to see that empathy is actually a critical component of creating some sort of connection with others, and if I want to be any good at doing my job as a pharmacist then it’s just as important as developing my technical domain knowledge. Now I’m beginning to see that it’s not just empathy for patients that’s important, but also toward other care providers and policy makers.
